After personally knowing a few people having their trailers stolen because all the crooks have to do is to removed the two coupler bolts from the c-channel type adjustable couplers in the Denver, CO area and finding myself needing a dump trailer for my own business, I started searching for a lock to secure my coupler to the trailer.
After personally knowing a few people having their trailers stolen because all the crooks have to do is to removed the two coupler bolts from the c-channel type adjustable couplers in the Denver, CO area and finding myself needing a dump trailer for my own business, I started searching for a lock to secure my coupler to the trailer. Not finding a product like this anywhere I began to think about how to keep this from happening day after day all over the country and the Kraken Lock was born.
A few pizza box cutout designs later I started making thin sheet metal models and as the design came together (as well as the many cuts I had from the sharp sheet metal) I grew more and more confident that I had a great idea to prevent adjustable trailer coupler removal type theft.
I wanted to use a lock that wasn't easily bypassed like the cheap barrel type locks that come on most trailer products nowadays and that's when I found a 10-pin tubular lock, these locks feature a anti-drill core and all weather corrosion protection for a lifetime of outdoor use in harsh environments.
Once all the different aspects came together I was ready to make a few prototypes and test them against pry bars and sledgehammers and then started the patent process (which is a whole other story!)
Now with patent in hand, I'm excited to offer my adjustable trailer lock and have been busy shipping Kraken Locks all over the country since 2017! I'm proud to say this is a Made in the USA product and strive to always be able to offer free shipping and low cost trailer protection to all the hard working folks who rely on their heavy duty trailers for work as well as the weekend warrior hauling toys to spend time with the family!

The Kraken Lock protects your adjustable coupler trailer so someone cannot remove the two bolts that hold the coupler piece to the c channel (most of us only lock up where the ball or pintle attaches to truck). A thief can bring their own coupler and with only removing these two bolts they can take off with your dump trailer or equipment / car trailer (with your skid steer, generator, welder , boat, automobiles, tools or other very expensive equipment on it!!) Perfect to secure your heavy duty work trailer and works great with lunette ring / pintle ring type couplers also!
Thick, high strength steel box and an impenetrable 10 pin tubular lock (not the typical 5-7 pin cheap barrel locks that most companies use today) closes over a grade 8 (or optional grade 9) bolt retention plate thus quickly and easily replacing existing coupler bolts to prevent theft.
Fits any trailer with an adjustable coupler C-channel type hitch (full sized fits the 6 hole and smaller 4 hole c-channel adjustable couplers or you can get the Mini Kraken for the smaller 4 hole couplers ). Then entire unit is powder coated to stand up to the toughest environments.

According to law enforcement agencies, trailer theft occurs most frequently when the trailer is not attached to it's towing vehicle and is parked by the roadside, in commercial parking lots, at businesses, in home driveways/street and other open areas. Additionally, law enforcement studies have shown that trailer locks that are harder or more time consuming to access greatly reduce the chance of theft.

Most thieves are looking for a quick and easy heist and are less willing to spend the time and effort making a bunch of noise trying to remove locks when they can find another trailer that's unprotected and less risky to take.
** Kraken Lock will fit most I-beam frame type trailers but box may need to be angled slightly top to bottom so can mount without needing to notch the I-beam frame of trailer (feel free to text me pics of your trailer for fitment advice)
